C-Imaging - SimplePCI - Transmitted Light Shading Correction

0. Introduction

• What is shading correction is explained here: How To on background correction.
• Background image needs to be carefully acquired.  Use a blank part of slide and focus up in order to blur dust, scratches, etc.
• Sample images need to be acquired using the same condenser settings as the background image(s)
• There is a way to do this method during acquisition. No notes yet.  See Michael.

1. Correcting shading of already acquired images

• Start C-Imaging
  • 
  • 
• Open the image to be corrected
  • File ---> Open ---> Image Document
  • Browse to the image and open it
  • 
  • 
  • 
  • • Or click on the image file's name in a "My Computer" window and drag it into the SimplePCI window
• Click on the "Enhance" button
• 
• Click on the Process button
• 
• In the "Select Operation" window choose "Shade Correction"
• 
• Choose the saved background image
• 
• Press Open then OK
• 
• Image is now shading corrected
• 
• Note that now the "Apply Enhance" button is depressed
• Subsequent images opened will have this shading correction applied
• "Apply Enhance" button may be toggled to see the effect of shading correction
• Image should be saved using right mouse click --> save image to file --> Processed Image
•
