Notices:

• Zernike has failed.  Data will be copied to a file server.  Contact Michael for rapid assistance or more information.
• The computer called \\Schott has replace Zernike at its old location.  \\Schott is a Windows 7 (64 bit) 2 CPU  8 GByte computer.
• In parallel to \\Schott is \\Brewster which is a Windows 7 (64 bit) 4 CPU computer with 4 GBytes of RAM.
• \\ZERNIKE is a Windows XP x64 bit image processing workstation with 8GByte of RAM and OpenGL graphics
• Volocity 64 bit is installed on this workstation
• Printing can be performed over the network by connecting to the shared color printer at \\MINSKY\Phaser8550DP 
• Due to lack of a 64 bit windows driver printing can not be performed on the laser printer \\MINSKY\HP1320-mhmf
• Limited AVI codec support is available.  Use Quicktime to export .avi movies using the Cinepak codec.

Introduction:

The PC computer called \\ZERNIKE and functions as a general purpose image processing workstation specialized for 64 bit applications and high capacity OpenGL graphics processing.  Various specialized and general purpose image processing software is installed on it.  Current 64 bit applications is Volocity.

Access:

Users may logon to, or connect to network shares on, this computer using their MHmicroscopy account name and password.  To login to this computer provide your username, password and domain (MHmicroscopy).  Other users will have to have account access setup by Michael or Neal

Data Storage:

Users are requested to save their data in a named directory on the D:\ drive (\\Zernike\users1) or the file server, \\MINSKY.  This directory is shared on the Microsoft Windows Network as \\Zernike\Users1.  Access to this shared directory over the network requires an account on the MHmicroscopy domain.  (Not on the Cystic_Fibrosis or other domains).  See Michael for more information.

  • Adobe Creative Suite (CS1) including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat (writer)
  • ImageJ
  • Microsoft Office 2007 - Word, Excel, Power Point, Access
  • Winzip - file/directory compression - creates a zipped file archive from one or more files
  • LViewPro - quick 22D image viewer - Also does simple slide shows
  • QuickTime 7 Pro - can open image series (time or z) and make movies in various formats. 
  • Volocity 5  (version 5 is available on Nomarski, and 4.4 on Snell)
