SOM Firewall changes - March 12, 2015
- The web servers and file storage servers
have been moved
behind the SOM CF Firewall at ~10 AM on Thursday, March 12,
2015
- Affected:
- Microscope booking calendars
- http://microscopy.unc.edu http://mhmicroscopy.med.unc.edu
- http://confocal.org http://mhmf.org
- \\MINSKY \\minsky.med.unc.edu
- MHmicroscopy domain
- and others......
- Note that any mappings on
your computers directly to i.p. numbers of the servers will
no longer work since the i.p. numbers have changed.

- The Michael Hooker Microscopy Facility
shut down on
July 31, 2014 under instructions from
iBGS and the
Office of Research.
- Please use your
existing MHmicroscopy credentials for logging onto
remaining workstations, booking and access to the file
server \\minsky.med.unc.edu
- Remaining resources will be moved to various other
locations

- Users who want to use the Olympus
Fluoview in NRB should contact
Michael.
- The upright Nikon with high
resolution color camera is available: Hooke system -
Upright Nikon fluorescence microscope with color
CCD camera - This system is running again. Hardware has
been repaired.
- Upright Nikon 80i for fluorescence and
transmitted light is available - medium resolution color
camera & low resolution color camera are availbale TB room 6024. Contact
Michael in order to discuss access.
- Members of the Cystic Fibrosis Center and
Alcohol Center and Stan Lemon lab. are welcome to (and should) ask
Michael for assistance.
- \\minsky
the file server is available. All may ask Michael for
assistance about passwords and access. The current
plan is to shut down \\minsky for legacy MHMF users in
August of 2016. Until then your data is available.
CF-Center, Bowles Center Alcohol Studies will continue to
have access to \\Minsky past
\Aug 2016. Gene Therapy Center data will also be
preserved.
- Computer workstation \\Schott is in room
7208 Marsico Hall.
\\Brewster will be available in 7208 Marsico Hall late Jan
2016.

It feels like lemons are being
converted into marmalade. Hopefully we will get
the resource to
lemonade eventually. |
